Citi Community Scholar Intern Program (CSIP) Awards
The Citi Foundation announced today that it has presented a total of
$630,000 in grants to 63 nonprofit organizations that focus on community
development through the Citi Community Scholar Intern Program (CSIP).
Located across the U.S. and in Puerto Rico, the organizations are using
these grants to provide undergraduate and graduate students with paid
internships. CSIP grants are awarded on a competitive basis with the
highest priority given to organizations that can offer interns a
valuable learning experience in the field of community development. CSIP
directly supports the Citi Foundation’s
community development strategy by expanding nonprofit organizations’
capacity to address the needs of the neighborhoods they serve.
"We are very pleased to support this important
program that recognizes the critical role community development plays in
helping to revitalize underserved neighborhoods,”
said Leslie Meek, Vice President and Senior Program Officer of the Citi
Foundation. "Through this program, we hope to
provide additional support to nonprofit organizations toward helping
them achieve their goals, while providing college students with a
meaningful work experience and insights into careers in the nonprofit
sector.”
The organizations receiving CSIP grants select and hire their interns to
ensure that they find the most suitable candidates to meet their needs.
Citi has specified that to be eligible for the grants the interns
supported by this program must work a minimum of 30 hours per week and
must be supervised by a full-time, paid employee of the nonprofit
organization.
