Alcoa Wheel and Transportation Products Announces Forged Aluminum Wheels to Be Offered on Winnebago 2009 Models
Alcoa Wheel and Transportation Products announced the offering of Alcoa forged aluminum wheels on Winnebago NAVION and NAVION iQ 2009 models. Winnebago Industries, a Forest City, Iowa company is universally known to consumers as synonymous to RVs (recreational vehicles). Built on the Sprinter 3500 chassis, the Winnebago models offer RV customers expanded styling and exterior design options to enhance the looks of their home away from home.
Previously, the customer’s wheel choices for the Winnebago RVs built on the 3500 chassis were limited to the standard OEM steel wheels or buying simulators to cover up the standard wheel to get a shiny look. Now, with the introduction of the Alcoa 16 x 5.5 J type forged aluminum wheel, Winnebago’s customers can select the aluminum wheel option with the elegant design of six elongated hand holes and gleaming polished aluminum enhanced by an accessories package to cover the front and rear axle and lug nuts for a completely improved vehicle image and style. In addition, RV customers benefit from the advantages forged aluminum provides in durability, corrosion resistance, lighter weight, and improved brake and tire heat dissipation for extended service life. Vehicles with aluminum wheels also have higher resale at trade in, making forged aluminum the ideal choice for optimal satisfaction and style.
Daimler’s Sprinter platform has increasingly grown in popularity for RVs, shuttles, vans and work trucks for its fuel economy, versatility and advanced technology features. Alcoa’s forged aluminum wheel at 16.9 pounds is 11.5 pounds lighter than each standard steel wheel and has a load rating of 2335 pounds per wheel and is available with both brush and polish finishes. For the Winnebago RVs, they are a winning combination.
