J. S. Simon Elected a Director of Exxon Mobil Corporation

Exxon Mobil Corporation (NYSE:XOM) announced today thatits board of directors has elected J. Stephen Simon a director of thecorporation. He will continue to serve as a senior vice president ofthe corporation.

With the addition of Mr. Simon, along with Samuel Palmisano of IBM(also elected to the board today), the ExxonMobil board now stands attwelve directors, ten of whom are non-employees.

ExxonMobil's other directors include Dr. Michael J. Boskin, T.M.Friedman professor of Economics and senior fellow, Hoover Institution,Stanford University; William W. George, professor of ManagementPractice, Harvard Business School; James R. Houghton, chairman of theboard, Corning Incorporated; William R. Howell, chairman emeritus,J.C. Penney Company, Inc.; Dr. Reatha Clark King, former chairman,board of trustees, General Mills Foundation; Philip E. Lippincott,retired chairman of the board and chief executive officer, Scott PaperCompany, retired chairman of the board, Campbell Soup Company; Dr.Henry A. McKinnell, Jr., chairman of the board and chief executiveofficer, Pfizer Inc.; Marilyn Carlson Nelson, chairman of the boardand chief executive officer, Carlson Companies; Samuel J. Palmisano,chairman of the board, president and chief executive officer of IBMCorporation; Walter V. Shipley, retired chairman of the board, TheChase Manhattan Corporation and The Chase Manhattan Bank; and Rex W.Tillerson, chairman of the board and chief executive officer, ExxonMobil Corporation.

Senior Vice President of Exxon Mobil Corporation

J. Stephen Simon is senior vice president of Exxon MobilCorporation.

Mr. Simon holds a Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineeringfrom Duke University and an MBA from Northwestern University. Hejoined Exxon Company, U.S.A. in July 1967 and shortly thereafter begana two-year assignment in the United States Army. He returned to ExxonU.S.A. in July 1969 as a business analyst in the Baton Rouge Refinery.

After holding a variety of supervisory and managerial positionsthroughout the Baton Rouge and Baytown refineries, and Exxon U.S.A.'sRefining and Controller's departments, Mr. Simon became executiveassistant to Exxon U.S.A.'s executive vice president located inHouston.

In 1980, he returned to the Baton Rouge Refinery as OperationsDivision manager, following which he became refinery manager. In 1983,Mr. Simon moved to New York where he was executive assistant to thepresident of Exxon Corporation. In 1984, he moved to London, England,as supply manager in the Petroleum Products Department of Esso EuropeInc. and then supply and transportation manager. Mr. Simon returned toHouston in 1986 as general manager of Exxon U.S.A.'s SupplyDepartment, and in 1988, he became chief executive and generalmanager, Esso Caribbean and Central America located in Coral Gables,Florida.

Mr. Simon moved to Italy in 1992, to become executive vicepresident and then president of Esso Italiana. He returned to theUnited States in 1997 and was named an executive vice president ofExxon Company, International, headquartered in Florham Park, NewJersey. In December 1999, he was appointed president of ExxonMobilRefining & Supply Company and vice president of Exxon MobilCorporation. In December 2004, he assumed his current position assenior vice president of Exxon Mobil Corporation.

Mr. Simon has served on the local boards of many voluntaryorganizations, including United Way, Boy Scouts and the SalvationArmy, and is a member of the Governance Committee of the NationalAction Council for Minorities in Engineering. He has also served onthe boards of the American Petroleum Institute and the NationalAssociation of Manufacturers. He is a member of the Board of Visitorsfor Duke University's School of Engineering and a member of thePresident's Council. In addition, he is on the Kellogg Advisory Boardof Northwestern University.
