ExxonMobil's Dewaxing Technology Selected for Two Petro-Canada Applications

ExxonMobil Research and Engineering Company (EMRE)announced today that Petro-Canada has selected MIDW(TM) fuelscatalytic dewaxing technology for both their Montreal, Quebec andEdmonton, Alberta refineries.

At Montreal, the MIDW fuels catalytic dewaxing technology will beintegrated with a 30,000 barrels per day EMRE grassroots ultra lowsulfur diesel hydrotreater to produce high quality diesel fuel at lessthan 10 ppm sulfur with excellent pour point quality. The MIDWproprietary catalyst also provides a boost in cetane quality whilereducing high boiling components to lower the T95 boiling point of thediesel fuel through isomerization and distillate selective cracking. At Edmonton, the MIDW technology will be used to produce very low pourpoint diesel on a 15,000 barrels per day retrofit unit.

This technology will provide Petro-Canada the maximum yield ofdiesel product and will feature the latest in EMRE's Spider Vortex(TM)reactor technology. Spider Vortex reactor internals provide theleading edge technology solution for owners who want to optimizegrassroots or revamped hydroprocessing reactor performance andreliability. Spider Vortex has been commercially proven in more than30 applications in ExxonMobil refineries and several licensedfacilities.

EMRE designed the MIDW facilities to allow Petro-Canada tooptimize feedstock selection for diesel manufacture while minimizingcapital investment and maintaining superior reliability and lowoperating costs.
