Click Commerce and Children's Hospital Boston to Speed IRB Processes

Click Commerce, an ITW company (NYSE: ITW), announced today that Children’s Hospital Boston (CHB) will use Click Commerce’s eResearch Portal to fully automate Institutional Review Board (IRB) processes for human subject research. Home of the world’s largest research enterprise at a pediatric medical center, CHB is using the eResearch Portal software to streamline and strengthen its IRB procedures. CHB, which is already using Click Commerce’s eResearch Portal to manage post-award grants funding processes, is taking advantage of the platform’s flexibility and expandability by adding human subject oversight to its existing research administration solution. IRBs monitor the safe and ethical conduct of human subject medical and behavioral research. Click Commerce eResearch Portal allows CHB to automate all IRB workflow processes, eliminate routine errors and omissions, ensure secure collaboration, and alert researchers of approaching deadlines—all while using CHB’s own forms and pre-review steps. Click Commerce’s Web-based, configurable submissions system for IRB applications distributes data instantly among research teams, speeding review and approval processes for all stakeholders. "Our success with Click Commerce’s grants management solution simplified our choice of a system for streamlining our IRB efforts,” said Carleen Brunelli, vice president for research administration at Children’s Hospital Boston. "We were already familiar with the platform’s configurability, which is crucial for preserving our IRB forms and workflow processes. At the same time, eResearch Portal enables us to significantly shorten turnaround times while improving collaboration and accuracy among review and oversight teams. In short, the Click Commerce solution allows us to spend more time on actual research.” "We are pleased to see one of the country’s leading children’s hospitals and research centers increasing compliance efficiency throughout the institution,” said Nick Stier, senior vice president in charge of Click Commerce Research and Healthcare. "CHB is leveraging eResearch Portal’s unique ability to streamline a variety of formerly time-consuming but critical tasks—initially in grants management, now in compliance— so that more time can be spent on producing results.” Children’s Hospital Boston and many other leading healthcare research institutions use Click Commerce’s browser-based, secure eResearch Portal to automate a wide range of administrative and compliance processes, including those associated with Grants, IRB, Conflict of Interest, and Clinical Trials Participant Tracking and Billing, among others.
