Boys and Girls Clubs to add 3 Clubhouses with financing from JPMorgan Chase, LISC

Thousand more children will be served by the Boys and Girls Clubs of Metropolitan Phoenix, thanks to the addition of three new clubhouses, financed by JPMorgan Chase and the Local Initiatives Support Corporation, better known as LISC. In the last three years, JPMorgan Chase has lent and invested more than $240 billion in low- and moderate-income communities and small businesses across the United States, part of a 10-year, $800 billion commitment. "The financing, taking advantage of the New Markets Tax Credit program, lets us start building these new clubhouses now, instead of waiting for us to collect on the pledges from our capital campaign,” said Amy Gibbons, president and executive director of Boys & Girls Clubs of Metropolitan Phoenix. "That means we can avoid higher constructions costs and, most importantly, affect the children’s lives much more quickly.” Created by Congress in 2000, the New Markets Tax Credit program encourages companies such as JPMorgan Chase to provide below-market rate financing on commercial real estate projects that improve communities. LISC is one of the largest allocates of the New Markets Tax Credits and operates across the country providing financing to projects in qualifying communities. "Partnering with the Boys and Girls Clubs on this financing project allows us to use our joint expertise to help more kids play and learn safely,” said Jennifer Lawson, senior vice president of not-for-profit banking for JPMorgan Chase. "This innovative financing has the very straightforward result of improving families’ lives.” The new Boys & Girls Clubs of Metropolitan Phoenix clubhouses will be in neighborhoods desperate for quality, affordable services for youth: The Ed Robson Clubhouse will be at 15815 North 29th Street in Phoenix, an area known as The Square. The new Glendale Clubhouse will be in the Orchid Glen district, at 6534 N. 63rd Ave. in Glendale. The Jerry Colangelo Clubhouse will serve the Maryvale community from 3402 W. McDowell Rd. in Phoenix.
