McDonald's Feb. Global Comparable Sales Down 0.3% - Quick Facts

(RTTNews) - Fast food giant McDonald's Corp. (MCD) Monday said its global comparable sales dropped by 0.3 percent in February, and systemwide sales for the month declined 0.6 percent or increased 2.2 percent in constant currencies.

Looking at the segment-wise performance, U.S. comparable sales were down by 1.4 percent in February, amid challenging industry dynamics and severe winter weather. In Europe, monthly comparable sales rose 0.6%, as a result of continued strong performance in the U.K. and positive results in France largely offset by ongoing weakness in Germany.

Comparable sales in Asia/Pacific, Middle East and Africa or APMEA slid 2.6%, hurt by the weakness in Japan and, to a lesser extent, a shift in timing of Chinese New Year and negative results in Australia.
