GE Security Announces iO-Series -- "Big Building" Intelligent Life Safety Systems for Smaller Buildings
GE Security, Inc., a business of GE Enterprise Solutions (NYSE:GE), today announced its latest innovation in life safety systems – the GE Security iO-Series, which incorporates control panels, intelligent detectors, control modules, and signaling devices specifically for small-building applications.
Drawing on some of the most innovative fire detection technologies developed, the iO-Series offers features and benefits previously available only for big-budget, large-building systems. It makes intelligent detection technology available for any size business and building and gives customers the ability to upgrade from legacy systems to the latest technology without the need to bear the expense of rewiring buildings. Developed from GE Security’s Signature Series, the iO-Series delivers "big building” stability and reliability, redefining the standard for small building life safety.
"GE Security continues to be at the forefront of creating innovative life safety systems for all customers and applications regardless of building or budget size,” said, Steve Hein, GM, fire and life safety products, GE Security. "The iO Series is another example of GE Security’s commitment to working with our customers to help them grow their businesses by delivering more and better solutions to end users real-world security challenges.”
Compliant with the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) regulations, the iO-Series features two intelligent control panels, the iO64 and iO500. The iO64 supports up to 64 intelligent devices while the iO500 supports up to 500 intelligent devices. Customers also have the ability to view the status of the iO-Series panel history, sensitivity settings, and a host of diagnostics including dirty detector warnings via an Ethernet connection.
With the iO-Series, unnecessary alarms are virtually eliminated with automatic drift compensation that constantly tunes detector sensitivity by adjusting for environmental conditions like humidity and dirt. In addition, sounder bases eliminate potential for disruption by providing a local audible alarm until the event is verified. Not only does this feature reduce the risk of nuisance alarms, but it also avoids disruption to building occupants and fire department fines that may result.
