Bringing Over 20 Years of Semiconductor Manufacturing Experience, Elke Eckstein Joins AMD as Vice President of Fab 30
-- Semiconductor Industry Veteran to Oversee 300mm Transformation of One of the Industry's Highest Performing Semiconductor Fabrication Facilities
AMD (NYSE:AMD) today announced that Elke Eckstein has joined thecompany as vice president of Fab 30, reporting to Hans Deppe,corporate vice president and General Manager of AMD Dresden, Germany.In this Dresden-based role, Eckstein will have overall responsibilityfor day-to-day operations of AMD's Fab 30, as well as oversee thetransformation to 300 millimeter wafer production as Fab 38.
"With a long-running reputation for operational excellence, Fab 30is an important part of AMD's global manufacturing capabilities," saidDeppe. "With tremendous industry experience in semiconductortechnology and manufacturing, Elke brings the necessary skills andexpertise to provide continued leadership at Fab 30 and drive a smoothtransition to 300 millimeter production."
Prior to joining AMD, Eckstein spent three years as CEO of AltisSemiconductor, a joint venture between IBM and Infineon. Ecksteinstarted her career with Siemens Semiconductor, which later becameInfineon, holding a variety of executive roles including research anddevelopment responsibility for their Dresden-based manufacturingfacility. She also held executive roles in product and technology atProMOS Technologies, a former joint venture between Infineon and MoselVitelic in Taiwan.
