Aetna Highlights Hispanic Role Models in 2009-2010 Latino Calendar

Aetna (NYSE: AET) has released its 2009-2010 Latino Calendar, which celebrates contemporary Latino role models who are helping to build stronger, healthy communities. The online version of the calendar is available at www.aetnahispaniccalendar.com.

Released to coincide with National Hispanic Heritage Month (Sept. 15 - Oct. 15), the 2009-2010 Aetna Latino Calendar features individuals who serve as strong role models to many, particularly younger Latinos, based on their professional accomplishments, and their ability to inspire others. Each individual featured has a health-related, fitness/wellness background.

The third edition of the annual bilingual calendar runs through December 2010.

The 2009-2010 Aetna Latino Calendar -- Construyendo Comunidades Latinas Saludables: Modelos de Vida Contemporáneos -- is available for purchase for $4 per copy by calling (860) 273-0509. Proceeds from calendar sales will benefit DiversityInc Foundation, a charitable organization affiliated with DiversityInc, which provides scholarships for financially disadvantaged students.

Individuals featured in this year’s calendar include leaders in the fields of business; community involvement; academics; advocacy/grass-roots outreach; medicine; dietetics; nutrition; and athletics.

The calendar profilees are:

  • Jane Delgado, M.S., President and CEO, National Alliance for Hispanic Health;
  • Paul J. Diaz, President and CEO, Kindred Healthcare Inc.;
  • Francisco Ramos-Gomez, DDS, Professor of Pediatric Dentistry, UCLA School of Dentistry, and President, Hispanic Dental Association;
  • Joanna Otero-Cruz, Director of Family and Behavioral Health Services, Congreso de Latinos Unidos;
  • Paloma Izquierdo Hernandez, President and CEO, Urban Health Plan, Inc.;
  • Norma Martínez-Rogers, Ph.D., RN, F.A.A.N., Professor, University of Texas Health Science Center’s School of Nursing, and President, National Hispanic Nurses Association;
  • Roberto Salazar, President, Self Reliance Foundation;
  • Claudia González, MS, RD, Dietician, Nutritionist and Communicator;
  • Marcos Oliveria, Ph.D., M.A., Associate Professor of Pharmacy, University of the Incarnate Word;
  • Gigi Fernandez, Professional tennis player;
  • Marco Jacome, Executive Director, Healthcare Alternative Systems; and
