YouTube To Require 10K Clicks Before Placing Ads

(RTTNews) - YouTube has decided that it will no longer display ads on videos with lesser than 10,000 views, a move that the company expects will help to avoid placing ads from big brands next to extremist videos.

According to YouTube, the new threshold will gives the company enough information to determine the validity of a channel and also help them confirm if a channel is following guidelines and advertiser policies.

"After a creator hits 10k lifetime views on their channel, we'll review their activity against our policies. If everything looks good, we'll bring this channel into YPP and begin serving ads against their content. Together these new thresholds will help ensure revenue only flows to creators who are playing by the rules," said Ariel Bardin, VP of Product Management.

Recently, several major companies and government agencies pulled ads from YouTube after they appeared alongside offensive extremist content on website.

Big companies like Marks and Spencer, Audi, RBS and L'Oreal pulled their ads from the website. The UK government and The Guardian had also pulled ads from the video site.
