-- Developer Program to Offer Exclusive Yahoo! Content and Services to Speed Development of Standardized Home Networked Devices

Furthering the company's commitment to extending Yahoo! beyond the desktop and onto networked devices throughout the home, Yahoo! Inc. (Nasdaq:YHOO), a leading global Internet company, today announced next steps in the company's digital home strategy, including an agreement with Microsoft Corp. and the launch of the Yahoo! Digital Home Developer Program.
Today's announcement builds on Yahoo!'s existing agreements in the digital home services business with Philips Electronics to extend Yahoo! products and services to Philips' Streamium Internet-enabled Home Entertainment devices and with SBC companies to extend the SBC Yahoo! experience to home television and audio systems, wireless phones, wi-fi and home networking equipment.
Yahoo! is focused on extending the Yahoo! experience beyond the PC, giving users what they want, when they want it, how they want it and where they want it. Consistent with that goal, Yahoo!'s Digital Home strategy leverages the company's leading content, and expertise in personalization, community and search, with the mission of putting consumers in control of their digital life, and enabling access to their personalized information, entertainment and web services across their Internet-enabled devices.
"The world is moving from mass media to personal digital media and we intend to leverage our expertise in personalization and content to help usher in the next phase of the Internet, one that is growing from the convergence of Internet technologies, high speed networks and entertainment devices," said Dan Rosensweig, chief operating officer, Yahoo! Inc. "Today's announcement with Microsoft combined with the launch of our Developer Program further solidifies our leadership position as the place for consumers to manage and interact with their digital lives -- be it on the PC, a mobile device, or in the digital home."

Yahoo! and Microsoft to Deliver Yahoo! Experience via Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005

Yahoo! today announced an agreement with Microsoft to extend Yahoo! services to Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005, Microsoft's version of the Windows operating system designed to provide all-in-one, digital entertainment experiences. Under the agreement, consumers will be able to access Yahoo! services optimized especially for the digital home environment. Yahoo! expects to deliver a variety of services and content over the course of the coming year via Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005, with the first offerings being made available in the coming weeks.
Yahoo! will be demonstrating at CES a service on Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 that brings together a wide variety of Internet-based video, traditional Internet content, Yahoo!'s proprietary search technology, and the breadth of the Yahoo! community. The service will allow consumers to select, start, stop and pause Internet video content, while at the same time taking advantage of personalized Internet content -- such as sports scores, stock portfolios, weather and more -- based on their personal preferences and those of their shared communities.
Yahoo!'s agreement with Microsoft also includes placement in "Online Spotlight," an area specifically designed to introduce compelling services to Windows XP Media Center Edition users. The agreement allows for Microsoft and Yahoo! to collaborate on additional products and services for the Digital Home market in the future.
"Microsoft is pleased to be working with Yahoo! to deliver useful and enjoyable digital entertainment experiences for the consumer as part of the Online Spotlight program," said Bill Mannion, Director of Windows XP Consumer Marketing at Microsoft. "The introduction of personalized Yahoo! services continues to extend the innovation that Microsoft started with the launch of Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 in October."
