Vivaldi Web Browser Is An Instant Hit With Power Users

(RTTNews) - Vivaldi, the new web browser launched on January 27, is an instant hit with more than 500 thousand downloads in the first 10 days. The browser is targeting tech savvy power users, who want better performance and rich features from their browsers. It is available for download as a technical preview for Windows, Mac and Linux. The company has plans to launch a mobile version and tablet version soon.

Vivaldi is created by Jon von Tezchener, a veteran software maker and former chief executive officer of Opera. It is based on JavaScript, Node.js, React, Browserify web technologies. It uses Google Search for browsing.

Vivaldi offers Quick Commands, Notes, Speed Dials, Tab Stacks and such new features to excite users. A single keyboard shortcut would help to open tabs, bookmarks, different settings and even history.

Notes are for taking notes while browsing and at the same time can add screen shots. Speed Dials is a powerful feature to access different sites from one place. It helps organize sites based on various subjects or contexts. Tab Stacks help to group multiple tabs in a single tab. Dragging will do grouping of tabs.

Vivaldi has plans to add mail, sync, spacial navigation functionality in the near future. The creators of the browser say that their aim is for the fastest browser in universe. The team was working from different locations in U.S., Iceland, Norway, Finland and the Czech Republic.
