Unisys Receives Extension of IT Outsourcing Services Contract with City of Chicago
Unisys Corporation (NYSE:UIS) today announced that it has received an
extension to its IT outsourcing services contract with the City of
Chicago. The extension has an estimated value of $72 million for the
initial six-year term and an additional $12 million if the city
exercises a one-year option.
Under the extension, Unisys will expand the range of IT outsourcing
services it provides the city. The new services include managed services
for the city's Sun server infrastructure and modernization of its
network operating environment. Unisys will also expand the remote
support it has begun providing the city, giving employees additional
options for faster resolution of service incidents.
Since the relationship began in 1999, Unisys outsourcing services have
enabled the City of Chicago to improve operational efficiencies, provide
new levels of service to city workers and accelerate delivery of
services to residents.
"Unisys has proven to be an ideal outsourcing
partner, providing IT services that deliver taxpayers real value for
their investment,” said Hardik Bhatt, chief
information officer, City of Chicago. "We
anticipate that the city will benefit greatly from Unisys expanded
services as we deploy new generations of technology to make our
operations more efficient to serve the residents of Chicago even more
effectively.”
Unisys will continue supporting more than 18,000 city employees in 43
separate agencies. Unisys IT outsourcing services for the City of
Chicago include network and server management; management of desktop and
laptop systems and wireless devices; service desk for end-to-end
management of service requests; and hardware support and maintenance.
Unisys will also continue providing infrastructure support for critical
applications, including the city's 311 non-emergency call system, and
its Web site and related applications. Those have become a primary
channel for delivering basic services to residents, from initiating
license applications to paying parking tickets and water bills.
"Unisys relationship with the City of Chicago
shows that long-term outsourcing partnerships can continually yield new
levels of innovation,” said Alfred G. Binford,
vice president and managing partner, North America, Unisys Global
Outsourcing and Infrastructure Services. "Unisys
looks forward to helping the City of Chicago build on the success we
have already realized together to achieve even greater governmental
efficiency and service to residents.”

Forward-Looking Statements
Any statements contained in this release that are not historical facts
are forward-looking statements as defined in the Private Securities
Litigation Reform Act of 1995. All forward-looking statements rely on
assumptions and are subject to various risks and uncertainties that
could cause actual results to differ materially from expectations. This
agreement and extension is based upon a per seat charge for services,
and the estimated total value of the contract and extension assumes the
seat count will remain within the same relatively constant range it has
for the past five years. Statements in this release regarding the total
value of the contract assume that the City of Chicago, and its
affiliated departments, will continue the contract extension for the
full six year term, and for the full one year period of the optional
extension term. Because the seat count may fluctuate and agreements with
government agencies are terminable before the end of their terms and are
subject to the availability of appropriated funds, the values in this
release are not guaranteed. Additional discussion of factors that could
affect Unisys future results is contained in periodic filings with the
Securities and Exchange Commission.
