Sybase Acquires Data Integration Provider Solonde AG
DUBLIN, Calif., June 14 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Sybase, Inc. , a leading provider of enterprise infrastructure and mobile software, today announced that it has acquired Hamburg, Germany-based Solonde AG, a privately held provider of powerful next-generation solutions for data integration and interface management needs, in an all cash transaction. The transaction closed on June 12, 2006.
Solonde's extract, transform and load (ETL) capabilities advance Sybase's Unwired Enterprise strategy by providing a more complete range of data integration solutions to its global customers. This enables enterprises to make better business intelligence decisions based on a consolidated view of data from multiple heterogeneous sources. Solonde's ETL capabilities combine industry-leading ease-of-use with unmatched scalability through a unique GRID architecture for one common data transformation platform.
"Solonde enables Sybase to build upon a newly architected ETL platform," said Raj Nathan, Ph.D, senior vice president and general manager, Information Technology Solutions Group, Sybase, Inc. "This acquisition complements our existing technology, expands our data integration portfolio and supports our Unwired Enterprise strategy."
Solonde's ETL functionality complements Sybase's highly scalable IQ analytics server and its mission-critical data management system, Sybase Adaptive Server Enterprise (ASE). With its unsurpassed query performance and storage efficiency for structured and unstructured data, Sybase IQ enables companies to dramatically save time, storage capacity and overall costs. Additionally, Sybase ASE meets the increasing demands of large databases and high transaction volumes, providing a cost effective database management system to tame the data explosion.
"This is exciting news for us," said Dan Crawford, CEO of CompuDyne -- Public Safety & Justice, a Solonde customer. "Sybase's acquisition of Solonde will provide us with a greater level of global support and access to a broader breadth of complementary products."
Acquiring Solonde strengthens Sybase's data integration capability, which already includes replication, data federation (enterprise information integration/EII), real-time data propagation and search. Customers can take advantage of the ETL functionality to easily populate data warehouses with historical and operational data from multiple heterogeneous sources. Solonde's innovative ETL solution is extraordinarily easy to install and use thereby reducing the time, money and staff required for business intelligence projects. Solonde's state-of-the-art design is a highly scalable GRID architecture that supports all major databases, flat files, XML, web services and SAP R/3. Solonde also provides Sybase with certified SAP integration technology.
"Sybase already offers a strong portfolio of data integration solution options with its data replication, data federation and data event propagation products," said Gerrit Kolb, CEO, Solonde. "We are excited that our ETL suite complements Sybase's strengths in analytics-ready data management to provide customers access to latent information for a stronger intelligence infrastructure."
