State Street Earns Top Ratings in Corporate Equality Index

State Street Corporation, the world’s leading provider of financial services to institutional investors, today announced that it has received the top rating of 100 percent in the Human Rights Campaign Foundation’s annual Corporate Equality Index for the second consecutive year. The Corporate Equality Index rates employers on a scale from 0 to 100 percent on their treatment of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender (GLBT) employees, consumers and investors. "More businesses than ever before have recognized the value of a diverse and dedicated workforce,” said Human Rights Campaign President Joe Salmonese. This year an unprecedented 195 major US businesses earned the top rating of 100 percent in the Corporate Equality Index, a 41 percent increase from 2006. The 195 businesses that met all of the criteria employ more than 8.3 million workers. Among the key findings of this year’s report, the banking and financial services industry ranked higher than any other industry, with a total of 32 companies.
