Sony To Launch PlayStation4 In U.S. On Nov. 19, Europe Nov. 29

(RTTNews) - Sony Computer Entertainment America LLC, a division of Japanese consumer electronics giant Sony Corp. (SON.L, SNE), late Tuesday announced that the PlayStation4 or PS4 computer entertainment system will be launched in the Canada and U.S. on November 15, and in Europe as well as 10 Latin American countries on November 29. The recommended retail price of PS4 is $399 in the U.S

The company noted that the PS4 is a next generation computer entertainment system that redefines rich and immersive gameplay with powerful graphics and speed, deeply integrated social capabilities, and innovative second-screen features utilizing devices such as PlayStation Vita or PS Vita.

PS4 will support Twitch, a live internet streaming service devoted to video gaming, concurrently with the release of the system.

The company added that a total of 15 Blu-ray Disc titles developed by SCE Worldwide Studios and numerous software developers and publishers from around the globe will be released between the launch of PS4 and December 31st. Combined with digital download titles, an astounding 33 titles will be available before the end of the year.

There are currently more than 180 PS4 titles in development.

Separately, Sony announced that the PlayStation Vita or PS Vita system is now available for $199.99 in North America. The new price, down from the original launch price of $249.99 for the Wi-Fi model and $299.99 for the 3G/Wi-Fi model, applies to all PS Vita systems available at retail, including the limited edition PS Vita The Walking Dead bundle launching this week.

The company will also reduce the price of the PS Vita memory cards up to 33 percent.
