SAP Names Patrick Bakey as President of SAP Public Services, Inc.
WASHINGTON, Feb. 5 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- SAP Public Services, Inc., a subsidiary of SAP America, Inc., today announced the appointment of Patrick Bakey as president of its U.S. public services organization. Bakey's appointment will help extend SAP's leadership in the U.S. public sector, a key growth industry for the company. In his new position, Bakey will be responsible for the company's sales and field operations for the public sector, addressing organizations including the Department of Defense, federal civilian agencies, homeland security, state and local governments, defense and security firms, K-12 and higher education institutions in the United States.

Bakey has 18 years' experience in the information-technology industry, including the public sector. At SAP, Bakey was senior vice president of the customer relationship management (CRM) practice, responsible for accelerating revenue growth by extending the strong value of CRM to existing and new customers. He also served on the SAP Americas senior leadership team, working as an expert in industries, solutions and strategic partnerships vital to the company's growth. Prior to joining SAP Americas in July 2004, Bakey served as vice president of Federal Sales for Siebel Systems. At Siebel, Bakey helped turn around Siebel's public-service revenue from among the lowest to one of the fastest-growing industry segments in the company.
Bakey previously held management roles at the Xerox Corporation, where he served as vice president of Xerox Strategic Acquisitions and in other sales-related management positions related to software, hardware and services.
Bakey holds a degree in economics from the University of California at Berkeley and a master's degree in business administration from Northwestern's J.L. Kellog Graduate School of Management. He and his family reside in Rockville, Maryland.
Bakey succeeds Rand Blazer, who announced in January 2007 he would be leaving SAP to become chief operating officer at Apex Systems, Inc., a leading provider of technical and professional staffing solutions to Fortune 1000 and midsize companies across North America. Apex is a member of the SAP Partner Community.
