Report: Apple Getting Rid Of Headphone Jack
(RTTNews) - Rumor has it that Apple Inc. (AAPL) will eliminate the iPhone headphone jack in the next model to make it slimmer.
According to Japanese blog Macotakara, Apple will be getting rid of the 3.5 mm headphone jack, which has been standard for iPhones as well as other smartphones in the industry.
Macotakara, which has always been correct with its Apple predictions, says that the Cupertino, California-based tech giant will replace earphones with one that will use the lightning port to transfer audio. Users will be able to use bluetooth wireless headphone as well.
Apple expects to slim down the iPhone by 1 mm by killing the industry-standard 3.5mm jack in favor of Lightning connectors.
