Jack Ma Reportedly To Unveil Alibaba's Succession Plan, Not Retirement

(RTTNews) - Alibaba Group Holding Ltd's (BABA) co-founder and executive chairman Jack Ma will unveil a succession plan on September 10, the South China Morning Post reported, with a company spokesman denying a New York Times report that he would retire that day.

The report noted that Ma will unveil the plan on Monday 10 on his 54th birthday.

An Alibaba spokesman reportedly said Ma remains the company's executive chairman and will provide transition plans over a significant period of time, contrary to a New York Times article that said he was "stepping down" to "retire." The Times story was taken out of context, and factually wrong, the spokesman reportedly said.
