H&R Block Launches National Team for the Light the Night(R) Walk

Light The Night Walk events take place in more than 200 locationsacross the country. Walkers of all ages carry illuminated balloons tocelebrate and commemorate lives touched by cancer. The Walk is also acommunity celebration, with music, refreshments and family activities.

H&R Block associates have participated in the Light The Night Walkin previous years. But this is the first time that all of thecompany's business units have joined together to form a national walkteam.

"We believe that as one corporate team, we will be able to make aneven greater impact than we could on an individual basis," said AndreaAllison-Putman, director of community relations for H&R Block."Joining forces will enable us to pool our resources, get moreassociates involved and increase the support we provide to TheLeukemia & Lymphoma Society."

As part of Light The Night, associates with H&R Block, H&R BlockFinancial Advisors, Option One Mortgage Corporation, H&R BlockMortgage Corporation and RSM McGladrey will help raise money tosupport The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's mission to cure bloodcancers and improve the quality of life for patients and theirfamilies.

"Every five minutes someone in the United States is newlydiagnosed with leukemia, lymphoma or myeloma, and every ten minutessomeone dies from these cancers," said Dwayne Howell, the Society'spresident and chief executive officer. "We are enormously grateful forthe support H&R Block and its associates have shown for the Light theNight Walk. Their efforts are really helping to save lives."

Last year, approximately 200,000 people raised more than $24million through Light The Night Walk events in more than 200communities nationwide.
