DHL Wins Shipping Contract For U.S. Air Express Services with Johnson Controls; Leader in Automotive Systems and Facility Management Chooses DHL to Enhance U.S. Operations
All Johnson Controls business units (interior experience, buildingefficiency and power solutions), will use DHL's Next Day Air productsto transport time-sensitive customer material such as emergency partsfor vehicles and control equipment, including heating and coolingsystems and parts to and from vendors and company facilitiesthroughout the U.S. Johnson Controls will also use DHL for urgentinter-office material, including the full company payrolldistribution.
Johnson Controls, which had used a combination of carriers forseveral years, noted that a $1.2 Billion DHL network infrastructureinvestment and recent enhancements to DHL next day air products havebeen providing measurable returns, including faster transit times andenhanced overall operational flexibility. In April, DHL announcedsignificant enhancements to its suite of domestic Next Day Airproducts though a major expansion of service coverage across the U.S.,and a money back guarantee for DHL Next Day 10:30 AM and DHL SaturdayDelivery services.
Johnson Controls will also leverage DHL's global expertise ininternational shipping to develop integrated regional solutions, speedtransit times, and minimize customs clearance delays. DHL is currentlyworking with Johnson Controls to develop cross-border, break-bulksolutions from Mexico to the U.S. and from the U.S. to Canada for thetransport of automotive parts and heating and cooling systems.
Both companies are also evaluating joint procurement and reselleralliances.

DHL is also engaging its Partnership CARE team (CustomerActivation Resolution and Enhancement) for Johnson Controls, designedto identify and tailor solutions to specialized customer needs. Theprogram ensures that customers with complex shipping and logisticsneeds have dedicated expertise and support at activation and duringthe start-up process, as well as throughout their relationship withDHL. Already in place are tailored solutions for Johnson Controls,such as customized customer service support and late pickup service atkey Johnson Controls distribution facilities.
