DGAP-News: Grammer taking an important step towards optimizing plant structure in Eastern Europe
Amberg / Dolni Kralovice, Czech Republic, March 16, 2016 - On February 29, 2016, Grammer completed an important project for optimizing its Eastern European plant structures. After almost 20 years of operation, the Dolni Kralovice plant in the Czech Republic is now being closed following the relocation of all production lines to other sites as planned. The plant in Dolni Kralovice had been built at the beginning of 1997 and was acquired by Grammer in 1999. It assembled headrests, armrests and side cushions for German premium automotive OEMs. The main reason for the decision to close the plant was the building structure at the site. As production activities were spread across several levels, it was no longer possible to organize production structures in accordance with Grammer's current technical requirements. The relocation thus formed part of the "Footprint East" program for optimizing and expanding production capacities in Eastern Europe in response to high growth and the increasing internationalization of the Grammer Group. Under this important project, the plants in Zatec and Ceska Lipa were built and expanded at the same time as the closure of the Dolni facility.
Grammer manufactures interior components and seating systems for the European automotive and commercial vehicle market at a total of four sites in the Czech Republic with more than 2,000 employees.
The vast of majority of the employees in Dolni have found new jobs elsewhere or have been transferred to other Grammer operations.
