Citrix Executives to Present Desktop and Datacenter Virtualization Strategies at Burton Group Catalyst Conference
Citrix Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq: CTXS) today announced that company executives and thought leaders will present this week on next generation virtualization strategies for the desktop, datacenter and cloud computing at Burton Group’s 2009 North America Catalyst Conference in San Diego, July 27-31.
- Mark Templeton, President and CEO – "Enterprise IT, the Cloud and Virtualization: Putting It all Together” (Wednesday, July 29, 2:30 p.m. PT) – Templeton will share his vision for how virtualization - across desktops, servers and clouds - fits into the new model of "IT as a service” and helps businesses deliver a simpler and more efficient computing experience.
- Simon Crosby, CTO, Virtualization and Management Division – "The Thrilla in California: Debating Hypervisor Performance” (Wednesday July 29, 4:45 p.m. PT) – Crosby will be matched against VMware’s Scott Drummonds for a fast-paced debate on hypervisor performance. Topics will include the technical nuances that offer the greatest performance benefit or detriment to Xen® and VMware hypervisors, measuring hypervisor performance and barriers to performance scalability.
- Sumit Dhawan, Vice President, XenDesktop Product Group – "Desktop Virtualization - Five Years Forward” (Friday, July 31, 10:45 a.m. PT) – Dhawan will address the pivotal impact of the next five years on the future of the desktop and which virtualization technologies will flourish and why. He will also highlight how customers are using these solutions today, their plans for the future, and what organizations need to do to prepare.
- Michael McKiernan, Director of Worldwide Operations Planning and Procurement – "Bring Your Own Computer (BYOC) Program at Citrix” (Wednesday, July 29 at 3:15 p.m. PT) – McKiernan will discuss the BYOC program deployed within Citrix, which formalized the common practice of employees using Citrix virtualization products to access the network and business critical applications from their home or personal computers. The program allows employees to choose their own operating system and device for both business and personal use, delivering a simple, ubiquitous access experience.
Citrix will also be demonstrating its desktop and server virtualization technologies in Aqua Suite 311, including XenDesktop™, XenApp™, XenServer™, Essentials™ for Hyper-V™ and the upcoming XenClient™. More details on the conference can be found at: http://catalyst.burtongroup.com/NA09/.
Burton Certifies Citrix XenServer 5.5 as 100 Percent Enterprise Production-Ready
Burton Group analysts will also be presenting the evaluation criteria for its enterprise production-ready certification. Citrix® XenServer 5.5 with Citrix Essentials 5.5 Platinum Edition recently became one of only two hypervisor platforms in the industry that the analyst firm has recognized as meeting 100 percent of the required features for enterprise production.
"To be certified as enterprise production-ready under Burton Group’s server virtualization hypervisor evaluation criteria, a server virtualization platform must meet all 27 of our stated feature requirements,” said Chris Wolf, senior analyst, Burton Group. "Enterprise production-ready hypervisors pass a rigorous examination of their compute, storage, networking, security, and management capabilities, and achieve a passing score of 100 percent with regards to required features.”
Citrix XenServer 5.5 became generally available on June 16, just 75 days after Citrix unveiled the full enterprise-class XenServer platform for unlimited production deployment at no charge. Unlike basic hypervisors that have been free for years, XenServer sets an entirely new standard for free virtualization with powerful features such as centralized multi-node management, built-in storage and full live motion. Since unveiling free enterprise-ready XenServer, more than 140,000 customers worldwide have downloaded the product with overwhelmingly positive feedback. By providing these customers with a free, fully featured alternative to existing commercial products, Citrix has saved customers millions of dollars and provided compelling value to IT organizations as they face shrinking budgets.
The 5.5 release of Citrix Essentials for XenServer and Hyper-V, provides advanced virtualization management capabilities for customers using Citrix XenServer or Microsoft® Windows Server® 2008 Hyper-V. Citrix Essentials 5.5 enhances both of these high-growth virtualization platforms by adding expanded storage integration, automated lab and stage management and dynamic workload balancing. It also complements XenDesktop, with support for both server and desktop workloads.
XenServer 5.5 is immediately available for download at http://www.citrix.com/freexenserver, as well as hundreds of other download sites worldwide. Citrix Essentials 5.5 for XenServer and Hyper-V are also available for purchase or a 30-day trial version at http://www.citrix.com/essentials.
