Boeing Gets $8.8 Bln Worth Order For 82 Airplanes From Singapore's BOC Aviation

(RTTNews) - Aerospace and defense giant Boeing Co. (BA) announced Monday that it has received an order by Singapore-based BOC Aviation for 82 airplanes, valued at $8.8 billion at list prices. The order includes 50 737 MAX 8s, 30 Next-Generation 737-800s and two 777-300ERs (Extended Range).

According to the firm, the order is the largest in BOC Aviation's 20-year history and part of the Commercial Aircraft Sales and Leasing company's effort to grow its portfolio of fuel-efficient airplanes.

The order adds to the fleet of BOC Aviation, formerly named Singapore Aircraft Leasing Enterprise, which is among the youngest in the leasing industry with an average of less than four years, Boeing noted.

The company termed the Next-Generation 737-800 as the best-selling version of the highly successful Next-Generation 737 family due to its ability to deliver outstanding, dependable operational and financial performance across the wider ranges of missions.

The 737 MAX incorporates the latest-technology CFM International LEAP-1B engines to deliver the highest efficiency, reliability and passenger comfort in the single-aisle market.

Meanwhile, the 777-300ER extends the 777 family's span of capabilities, bringing twin-engine efficiency and reliability to the long-range market. Boeing stated that this airplane can fly up to 7,825 nautical miles and is equipped with GE90-115BL engines, the world's most powerful commercial jet engine.

Robert Martin, managing director and chief executive officer, BOC Aviation, said, "...this is a continuation of our commitment to be responsive to airline customers which are expanding or replacing older fleets... BOC Aviation expects healthy demand for the Next Generation 737 and 737 MAX variants in the next seven years."

In recent deals, Boeing and All Nippon Airways or the ANA Group (ANA.L, ALNPF.PK, ALNPY.PK) in late July have finalized an order for 40 widebody airplanes, including 20 777-9Xs, 14 787-9 Dreamliners and six 777-300ERs (Extended Range), worth nearly $13 billion at list prices.

At the Farnborough International Airshow 2014 in the UK in July, Boeing received $18.9 billion worth oder from Qatar Airways for 50 777-9Xs, and $3.9 billion worth oder for 26 airplanes from Air Lease Corp. (AL), among many other orders.

Meanwhile, on July 9, Boeing finalized an order for 150 777Xs aircraft from Dubai-based Emirates Airline that is valued at $56 billion at list prices. The order is for a combination of 115 777-9Xs and 35 777-8Xs.

In pre-market activity, Boeing shares were gaining 0.09 percent, and trading at $127.57.
