AT&T Underwrites USO of North Carolina Reset Programs

WILMINGTON, N.C., Nov. 18, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- As part of a national commitment to honor America's veterans and active duty military personnel, AT&T (NYSE: T) is underwriting a series of "Reset" programs conducted by the USO of North Carolina for service members and their families.

The $25,000 contribution is part of #ThankOurHeros, AT&T's national initiative contributing a total of $400,000 this month to local organizations across the country who serve veterans and active duty military personnel.

"Defending this great country is a privilege and an honor," said NC Rep. Holly Grange, a former U.S. Army officer and military spouse. "Yet wearing the uniform also brings a unique set of challenges and pressures which go far beyond the physical dangers of deployment. So while I continue to be profoundly grateful for the sacrifice and dedication of America's servicemen and women, I am also very thankful for the work of the USO of North Carolina."

The USO's "Reset" programs are designed to serve different constituencies within the military community, providing tools and coaching to meet specific needs of each group. Warrior Reset programs typically involved senior non-commissioned officers who can cascade their learnings to their troops. Spouse Reset programs engage spouses of active-duty, National Guard or reserve personnel, while Family Reset programs focus on children.

"Among all the services we provide, Reset programs are increasingly becoming some of the most popular," said John Falkenbury, President of the USO of North Carolina. "Time and again, we have seen how helping family members better cope with the unique pressures and challenges associated with military service, became a positive turning point for relationship and careers. We appreciate the support of leaders like Rep. Grange who have helped keep North Carolina America's most military-friendly state."

The programs underwritten by AT&T begin with a Spouse Reset today and will continue into 2017.

"Our nation's servicemen and servicewomen have made great sacrifices to protect our country and our freedoms, and it's an honor to support them both at home and abroad," said Venessa Harrison, President of AT&T North Carolina. "This contribution is just one way we at AT&T can express our thanks to them and their families."

The $400,000 in contributions build on AT&T's nearly 100-year commitment to active military personnel, veterans and their families. In addition, AT&T also encourages individuals to join in #ThankOurHeroes, a new social media campaign to show appreciation for servicemen and servicewomen. Users can upload messages, photos and videos showing their gratitude to veterans using #ThankOurHeroes, which AT&T and veterans' organizations will share throughout the month of November.
