Malaysia's Exports Rise For Fifth Consecutive Month

(RTTNews) - Malaysia's exports increased for the fifth straight month in November, the Department of Statistics reported Wednesday.

Exports rose 6.7 percent year-on-year in November to MYR 62.25 billion. But the growth rate was weaker than the expected 10.3 percent.

Likewise, imports advanced 6.4 percent to MYR 52.23 billion, below the 15 percent rise forecast by economists. The annual growth was contributed mainly by higher imports of intermediate goods.

The trade balance showed a surplus of MYR 9.72 billion in November, which was higher than the expected MYR 8 billion surplus.

During January to November, exports grew 1.4 percent to MYR 654.08 billion, while imports expanded 6.3 percent to MYR 592.91 billion, resulting in a trade surplus of MYR 61.16 billion.
