Latvia Industrial Production Growth Eases In May

(RTTNews) - Latvia's industrial production growth slowed in May after accelerating in the previous month, figures from the Central Statistical Office showed Monday.

Industrial production climbed a calendar-adjusted 6.5 percent year-over-year in May, much slower than April's 10.2 percent gain. It was the third consecutive monthly rise.

Production in the manufacturing sector expanded 8.5 percent in May from a year ago and that for mining and quarrying rose by 1.1 percent. Meanwhile, electricity and gas supply production dropped 0.9 percent.

On a monthly basis, industrial production dropped a seasonally adjusted 2.1 percent in May, reversing a 1.8 percent hike in the preceding month. It was the first decline in four months.
