Moody's: Liquidity pressures persist for Brazilian electricity distribution companies despite tariff increases

Sao Paulo, October 01, 2015 -- The ongoing drought in Brazil will continue to pressure the liquidity positions of the country's electricity distribution companies through 2016, Moody's Investors Service says. In January, the Brazilian electricity sector's regulator implemented a special automatic increase mechanism followed by additional tariff increases in February which has alleviated some of the stress to the companies' liquidity positions, but not solved the problem.
