Ziegler Named President of Arch Coal Sales

ST. LOUIS, March 12 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Arch Coal, Inc. today announced that John Ziegler, Jr. has been named president of Arch Coal Sales, Arch's sales and marketing subsidiary, effective immediately.

Ziegler will have responsibility for contract administration and the day- to-day marketing of Arch's geographically diverse operations. He will report to David N. Warnecke, Arch's vice president of marketing and trading.

"John has shown tremendous leadership in our sales and marketing efforts," said Warnecke. "We're pleased John has accepted this expanded role, and believe he can aptly lead our efforts in providing power producers with progressive fuel sourcing solutions and unmatched customer service."

Most recently, Ziegler served as vice president of marketing administration for Arch Coal Sales. Ziegler joined Arch Coal in 2002 as director of internal audit. Prior to joining Arch Coal, Ziegler held various finance and accounting positions with bioMerieux and Ernst & Young.

Ziegler earned a bachelor of science degree in Accounting from St. Louis University in 1989. He is a certified public accountant.

St. Louis-based Arch Coal is one of the nation's largest and most efficient coal producers. The company's core business is providing U.S. power generators with clean-burning, low-sulfur coal for electric generation. Through its national network of mines, Arch supplies the fuel for approximately 6 percent of the electricity generated in the United States.
