Yahoo! Appoints Reggie Davis as Vice President of Marketplace Quality
Yahoo! Inc. (Nasdaq:YHOO), a leading global Internet brand, today
announced the appointment of Reggie Davis to vice president of
marketplace quality. In this new role, Davis will serve as the company’s
first senior executive dedicated to continually enhancing the quality of
Yahoo!’s display and search listings
marketplaces.
As vice president of marketplace quality, Davis is responsible for
developing and executing a strategy aimed at driving more rapid
innovation, greater transparency and faster delivery of product and
service enhancements to build an even higher quality advertising network
for Yahoo!’s customers. Davis will hire a
dedicated staff to manage across all of Yahoo!’s
cross-functional quality teams and ensure that customer input is
integrated into all efforts to address click fraud, traffic quality,
network placement and other marketplace quality issues. Davis and his
team will also be responsible for increasing Yahoo!’s
dialogue with advertisers and publishers on quality related matters.
Davis is based in Burbank, Calif., and will operate within the marketing
products division of Yahoo!’s recently-formed
Advertiser & Publisher Group, which is led by Susan Decker.
"Reggie brings a deep background in quality, extensive knowledge of
Yahoo!, a history of involvement in a very diverse set of operational
issues across the company and the experience of hearing first-hand about
what’s important to our customers," said
Decker. "By organizing our various marketplace quality teams and
initiatives under Reggie’s leadership, we are
confident that we can even more effectively protect our advertisers,
more quickly align publisher interests with those of advertisers and
deliver on our commitment to quality more rapidly than ever.”
Davis has been with Yahoo! since January 2000 and has been closely
involved in a wide array of the company’s
quality and security initiatives. Prior to taking on this new role, he
served as associate general counsel managing litigation, including Yahoo!’s
click fraud litigation. In addition, Davis has also been involved in
business continuity strategy development at Yahoo! and received the
company’s highest recognition, a Yahoo!
Superstar Award, for founding and chairing Yahoo!’s
Information Security Committee.
"In seven years at Yahoo!, I’ve
never seen a more important opportunity to partner with our customers to
increase the value of our industry,” said
Davis. "With our industry-leading
technologies, cross-functional teams and strong executive commitment
behind these initiatives, I’m very excited to
lead the quality of Yahoo!’s advertising
marketplaces to the next level.”
In addition to developing the company’s
longer-term marketplace quality strategy, Davis has already begun
working closely with the Yahoo! product teams to drive several
enhancements aimed at providing greater visibility and control to Yahoo!’s
search advertisers this year, including: quality-based pricing, which is
designed to ensure that traffic is priced in a manner that is consistent
with the quality it delivers to advertisers; domain-level blocking,
which allows advertisers to identify individual domains from which they
do not wish to receive traffic; automated advertiser inquiry submission
processes and greater detail around advertiser and publisher adjustments.
Davis holds a B.A. from Harvard College and a J.D. from Tulane Law
School.
