Wal-Mart Dead Last In Customer Satisfaction

(RTTNews) - Retail giant Wal-Mart Stores Inc. (WMT) came last in customer satisfaction survey ratings despite Chief Executive Doug McMillon's promises and efforts to improve the retailer's relationship with shoppers.

According to the American Customer Satisfaction Index, Walmart once again came in at last among department and discount stores with a score of 66. The next closest chain, Sears was at 71. Nordstrom recorded an ACSI score of 82, which helped the retailer to top the class.

The department and discount stores category dropped 3.9 percent to 74.

The American Customer Satisfaction Index (ACSI) constantly polls consumers to measure their satisfaction with the products and services they buy. The survey was based on interviews with more than 9,000 customers in November and December.

Meanwhile, Walmart claims to have high approval rating from customers based on its own surveys.

"We survey millions of customers throughout the year and receive great feedback on our efforts to deliver clean stores, fast checkouts and a friendly store environment," a Walmart spokeswoman said.
