Versar Inc., Awarded 5-Year, $4.8M Contract with the Environmental Protection Agency Office of Water

SPRINGFIELD, Va., Aug. 1, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Versar, Inc. (NYSE MKT: VSR) announced today that it has received a 5-year, $4.8 million contract awarded by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Office of Water to conduct scientific peer reviews of EPA documents, assessments, and tools to ensure that major scientific products receive critical review prior to dissemination or use by EPA. A broad range of water-related topics may be subject to peer review, including: human health and ecological criteria, health advisories, engineering analyses, and remediation strategies. This contract continues Versar's 30 years of support to the EPA Office of Water.

In the past 12 months, Versar has won contracts with EPA's Office of Research and Development and with the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA); this award is the third peer review contract win. Versar is providing similar peer review support under the other two contracts, assembling expert panels to review EPA's and FDA's scientific products. Other support includes organizing meetings and workshops, preparing risk assessments, conducting literature reviews, and other technical and scientific assistance.
