Updated Toyota Highlander Debuts Next Week

(RTTNews) - Toyota's updated crossover SUV Highlander is set to debut at next week's New York Auto Show.

The 2017 Highlander crossover gets a fresh look along with an array of new hardware, including a direct-injected engine and a high-gear-count automatic transmission.

Toyota has upgraded the 3.5-liter V6 engine, however, has not disclosed its power output. The most important upgrade is its new 8-speed auto transmission which replaces the previous 6-speed unit. The vehicle gives 19/25/21 mpg in city/highway/combined in FWD and 18/24/20 in AWD.

"The new engine will generate significantly more horsepower, provide enhanced fuel efficiency, and deliver a more direct driving feel by expanding the lock up range," the company said in a statement.
