United States Steel Turns To Profit In Q1 - Quick Facts

(RTTNews) - United States Steel Corp. (X) reported a net income for the first quarter of $52 million or $0.34 per share, compared to a net loss of $73 million or $0.51 per share for the year-ago quarter.

Excluding items, adjusted net income for the first quarter was $52 million or $0.34 per share, compared to an adjusted net loss of $51 million or $0.35 per share in the prior year quarter.

Net sales for the latest first quarter fell to $4.45 billion from $4.60 billion a year ago.

Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to earn $0.32 per share on revenue of $4.51 billion for the first quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.
