United Natural Foods Q1 Profit Rises; Backs FY14 Outlook - Quick Facts

(RTTNews) - United Natural Foods, Inc. (UNFI) reported net income for the first quarter of $27.8 million, or $0.56 per share, compared to $21.5 million, or $0.43 per share for the year-ago quarter.

Net sales for the latest first quarter rose 13.6% to $1.60 billion from $1.41 billion in the comparable quarter last year.

On average, analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to earn $0.54 per share on revenue of $1.61 billion for the first quarter.

Looking forward, for fiscal 2014, the company affirms its previous guidance and expects GAAP earnings in the range of approximately $2.40 to $2.50 per share and net sales in the range of about $6.65 to $6.78 billion. Analysts currently expect the company to earn $2.51 per share on revenue of $6.74 billion for the fiscal year 2014.
