Top Canadian Athletes Join RBC Olympian Family

More than 50 Olympians and Olympic hopefuls make Canada proud

TORONTO, Sept. 27, 2017 /CNW/ - Today, 57 elite Canadian athletes were announced as 2018 RBC Olympians. The roster includes 2018 PyeongChang Olympic and Paralympic hopefuls Patrick Chan, Marie Philip Poulin, Spencer O'Brien, Tyler McGregor, Alex Harvey and Gilmore Junio.

The RBC Olympian program is a national initiative that offers top athletes the opportunity to focus on training and competing while receiving much-needed financial support. The athletes serve as community ambassadors, attending hundreds of community and charitable appearances and bringing the Olympic message of teamwork, excellence and leadership to communities from coast-to-coast-to-coast.

In addition, RBC Olympians have access to flexible work opportunities that provide practical job skills and experiences – helping them succeed both on and off the field of play. Since 2002, over 250 current and retired Olympic and Paralympic athletes have participated in the program, with some becoming full-time RBC employees.

Quotes:

"RBC understands the demands we face as athletes, and what we need to move forward both in sport and in life. In addition to invaluable job skills and mentoring opportunities with other Olympians, being an RBC Olympian allows me to share my Olympic experience and passion for sport with people across the country."
Sarah Wells, Olympic hurdler, three-time RBC Olympian

"We recognize that the road to the Olympics isn't an easy one, and that's why RBC continues to make a significant commitment to Canadian athletes through the RBC Olympians program. We want to make sure that athletes can stay focused on their Olympic dreams while also honing the skills they need to be successful in life after sport."
Matt McGlynn, Vice President, Brand Marketing RBC
