Third Annual Taste N' Tunes to Provide Children with Toys this Christmas

LAWRENCE, Kan., Aug. 29, 2013 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- The Douglas County Toys for Tots will once again be holding their Taste N' Tunes event in an effort to raise money and collect toys for their Toy Shop in Lawrence KS. The event, sponsored by Briggs Auto, will return to the BlueJacket Crossing Vineyard and Winery in Eudora, KS. It will take place on September 15th and run from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m.

Tickets are $20 and include food from a selection of local vendors. Participants who bring a toy donation will receive a commemorative 2013 Taste N' Tunes wine glass to be used take in a wine tasting. As wine will be served, the event is for those 21 years of age or older. Returning food vendors will be 23rd Street Brewery, Cutters Smokehouse, Gambino's Pizza and Carlos O' Kellys. Providing the desert will be Southern Accent Catering, a vendor new to the event.

Tickets for the event are available in Eudora at Cutters Smokehouse or Bluejacket Crossings Winery, and in Lawrence at 23rd Street Brewery. Tickets may also be ordered by mail with checks made payable to Douglas County Toys for Tots c/o Connie Rockers 856 Coving Dr. Lawrence, Kansas 66049.

In 2010 Douglas County Toys for Tots was able to provide more than 2000 kids with just under 7000 toys. In order to reach the necessary amount of toys, the Douglas County volunteers collected about 5000 toys themselves, received toys from the National Foundation and spent an additional $12,000 on toys. All the money spent came from donations and events such as Taste N' Tunes.

Monetary and toy donations may be sent to Toys for Tots, 4100 W 6th Street, Lawrence, Kansas, 66049. Any money sent directly to the address will go towards the purchase of toys for Douglas County children.
