The Swiss Stock Market Clung To A Small Increase
(RTTNews) - The Swiss stock market got off to a positive start Friday, following the gains of the past two sessions. The market moved in a sideways patter for much of the morning, but weakened in the afternoon following the release of the disappointing U.S. jobs report. Despite the late pullback, the Swiss market held onto a small gain.
The Swiss Market Index increased by 0.18 percent Friday and finished at 8,941.62. The Swiss Leader Index advanced 0.35 percent and the Swiss Performance Index added 0.23 percent.
Sonova climbed 1.0 percent after it named Arnd Kaldowski as its new CEO.
LafargeHolcim jumped 1.4 percent, Sika rose 1.1 percent and ABB added 1.0 percent.
Julius Baer advanced 1.3 percent, while Swiss Life and Swatch gained 1.0 percent each.
Kuehne + Nagel dropped 0.6 percent, Swisscom weakened by 0.3 percent and Aryzta lost 0.2 percent.
Among the index heavyweights, Nestlé dropped 0.3 percent and Novartis slid 0.1 percent. Meanwhile, Roche climbed 0.3 percent.
