Sybase 365 Furthers IPX & GRX Footprint Across Asia Pacific
Sybase 365, a subsidiary of Sybase, Inc., the global leader in mobile messaging and mobile commerce services, today announced further growth of its IPX (IP eXchange) and GRX (Global Roaming eXchange) on-net community in the Asia Pacific region, with the addition of key operators including Korea’s SK Telink and KT Corporation, Philippine’s Globe Telecom, Bhutan’s Tashi Infocomm Limited (TashiCell) and Telecom New Zealand.
By joining the Sybase 365 IPX ecosystem these operators are able to exchange voice traffic over the IPX with leading Asia Pacific mobile operators CSL of Hong Kong and Total Access Communication PLC (dtac) of Thailand. In partnership with Telecom New Zealand International (TNZI), Sybase 365 earlier this year launched the world’s first fully operational IPX Voice hub — a key offering on the Sybase® IPX 365™ platform — a full suite of IPX services designed to serve both the fixed and mobile network operator communities with premium quality of service and security required in the conversion to IP networks. CSL and dtac were the first operators to connect to the Sybase 365 IPX Voice Hub, proving that voice hubbing via the IPX is both technically feasible and commercially viable.
"As with the early days of SMS, operators recognise the benefit of hubbing connectivity over bilateral inter-operator agreements. Many mobile service providers face the challenge of having multiple interconnects, complicating operations and incrementing costs,” said Matthew Tonkin, senior sales director Asia at Sybase 365. "An increasing number of operators recognize the value of delivering multiple services through a single, secure IPX connection and are selecting a combination of services to run over the IPX that suit their business needs, including voice and GRX data roaming services, as well as BlackBerry connectivity and signalling.”
Further underlining Sybase 365’s leadership in the IP market, Hutchison Telecommunications Hong Kong Holdings Limited has joined Sybase 365’s expanding GRX ecosystem to route international data traffic through the IP. Sybase® GRX 365™ - which is also IPX ready - is one of the largest, more secure and best performing private IP networks in the world with more than 70 operator partners connected to its on-net community.
Hutchison Telecommunications Hong Kong Holdings Limited (HKEx: 215), was the first to market an international 3G network in Hong Kong under the "3” brand. Tapping into this proud history of industry innovation, Kenny Koo, AVP, International Services & Business Development at 3 Hong Kong, stated, "With Sybase GRX 365 we can further enhance the end-user experience of inbound and outbound roamers as well as to ensure a smooth transition to an all-IP environment in the future.”
