SunTrust Banks Inc. Reports 2% Increase In Q2 Bottom Line

(RTTNews) - SunTrust Banks Inc. (STI) reported earnings for its second quarter that climbed compared to the same period last year.

The company said its bottom line climbed to $475 million, or $0.94 per share. This was up from $467 million, or $0.89 per share, in last year's second quarter.

Analysts had expected the company to earn $0.88 per share, according figures compiled by Thomson Reuters. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

The company said revenue for the quarter rose 7.4% to $2.19 billion. This was up from $2.04 billion last year.
