Sony PlayStation 4 Coming To China March 20

(RTTNews) - Japanese tech giant Sony Corp. (SON.L, SNE), has announced it will start selling PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita in China from March 20, after months of delay.

The PlayStation 4 will retail for 2,899 yuan or about $463, while the hand-held console PlayStation Vita will sell for 1,299 yuan or about $207, the Tokyo-based company said.

The PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita consoles were initially planned for retail in China on January 11; however, the roll-out was delayed because of some changes requested by Chinese authorities.

Last week, Sony announced that it sold more than 20.2 million units of PlayStation 4 worldwide as of March 1.

The PS4 will be launched in China along with games including Dynasty Warriors 8: Xtreme Legends, King of Wushu and Knack.

China had only recently lifted its ban on video game consoles, after prohibiting it in 2000 citing it would harm the physical and mental development of children. China, the world's second largest economy and the most populated country, is a very lucrative market for gaming industry, with Microsoft having already entered the market with its Xbox consoles in September.
