SFM Officially Becomes SHFM
LOUISVILLE, Ky., Oct. 1, 2013 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- President Mark Freeman led the countdown today as the Society for Foodservice Management (SFM), the nearly 35-year-old association dedicated to Corporate Foodservice, became the Society for Hospitality and Foodservice Management (SHFM). The strategic brand enhancement was unveiled at a celebration this morning during the association's National Conference today in Bonita Springs, near Naples, Florida.

Effective immediately, SFM will operate under its new name and logo.
The enhancement addresses the evolving responsibilities of the association's key member segment, Client Liaisons and Self-Operators in Corporate Foodservice. While foodservice responsibilities remain central to the position, it has grown to embrace numerous hospitality-related functions such as vending, conference and events support, fitness centers, health and wellness and childcare—areas more broadly covered under the Workplace Hospitality segment. SHFM will be the preeminent resource for career development and industry insight in this growing segment.
"Today marks a historic moment for our Society," says SHFM Executive Director Tony Butler. "This was the critical moment to shift with the growing needs of our industry. SHFM will honor the legacy of SFM while reflecting the importance of being flexible and responsive, the key ingredients of growth."
"Our new brand is fresh, relevant and responsive for our current members, prospective members and the industry at large," adds Society President Mark Freeman. "Our influence is expanding into new markets and members segments. It's an exciting new era of growth for the Society."
More information on the brand enhancement and logo unveil will be forthcoming. More information on SHFM and its mission can be found at shfm-online.org.
