Science and Medical Professionals Praise SciMedTV.com for Improving Video Search
NEW YORK, Dec. 16, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Science and medical professionals are praising the SciMedTV Video Library because it allows them to search a quarter of a million professional videos by their full-transcripts and clip and share segments with colleagues and patients.
"SciMedTV enables me to find new treatments and practices from a diverse range of doctors, nurses and medical centers," states nurse practitioner Natalie Hellmers of Weill Cornell Medical Center. "SciMedTV gives medical professionals and their patients an opportunity to explore complex scientific concepts using multimedia, which can enhance how a person learns and spark new insights."
"In a medical emergency, you need the answers now!" emphasizes Hellmers. "SciMedTV filters out the videos that could slow me down and lets me locate the vital information I need in a fraction of the time I would spend searching for it on YouTube or Google."
SciMedTV makes searching high-quality scientific and medical videos faster and much more precise. "We took YouTube and made it smaller by removing the clutter. Then we enabled our users to find what they needed by providing full-transcript search," explains founder, Gary Welz.
"At SciMedTV, when you search on 'heart attack' you only get videos from 300 of the world's most prestigious universities, hospitals, and research institutions. With other search engines, your first page of search results would include music videos by Demi Lovato, Trey Songz and Enrique Iglesias for their songs entitled Heart Attack followed by literally millions of other pop culture videos."
Mathematician, Professor Laurence Kirby of Baruch College, CUNY, says it has "enabled me to locate, view and share research-level seminars in my own specialized field of mathematics, as well as more general lectures and some cutting edge mathematical animations. The transcript search saves time by allowing highly focused searches."
"It's a game changer," says Daniel Barnett, filmmaker and author of Movement and Meaning in Experimental Film. "Now a video citation can easily reference the time code in the video – just like a page number in a text document. This allows the medium of video to overcome a barrier to being accepted as a primary medium of scientific and medical communication – an evolutionary step which is long overdue."
The video index was created for SciMedTV by Microsearch.
