Sallie Mae Names David Ward Vice President of Lender Servicing Applications

RESTON, Va., July 7 /PRNewswire/ -- SLM Corporation , commonly known as Sallie Mae and the nation's No. 1 paying-for-college company, today announced that David Ward has been appointed vice president of lender servicing applications. Based in Reston, Va., Ward is responsible for Sallie Mae's mainframe system used to service more than 8 million student loan accounts.

Prior to joining Sallie Mae's information technology division, Ward was senior vice president of business aligned infrastructure technology at JPMorgan Chase for the Chase Manhattan Mortgage Unit. Ward also served as vice president of technology production operations services at First Union Bank and held management roles at American Greetings, Citibank Delaware and Bank One.

Ward earned associate's degrees in computer science and business administration from Columbus State Community College and a Business of Banking certification from Cornell University.
