Safeway Recalls Several Refrigerated, Deli Products

(RTTNews) - Safeway Inc. (SWY) Wednesday said it is voluntarily recalling several products supplied by or containing ingredients supplied by Reser's Fine Foods or Taylor Farms.

The company said its recall is in cooperation to the Reser's Fine Foods and Taylor Farms recalls of products that may have been contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.

The items are displayed behind the glass at the full-service deli or in self-serve coolers in the deli department, the company said.

Listeria is an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people and individuals with weakened immune systems. Healthy people may suffer only short term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea. Listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant woman.
