RLI Profit Falls, Yet Tops Estimate - Quick Facts

(RTTNews) - Insurer RLI Corp (RLI) Wednesday reported third-quarter net earnings of $33.2 million or $0.76 per share compared with $37.6 million or $0.86 per share last year.

Excluding items, operating earnings for the quarter were $0.68 per share compared with $0.70 per share a year ago.

Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters estimated earnings of $0.59 per share for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

Total revenues for the quarter were $197.7 million compared with $188.4 million in the prior year.

Net premiums earned for the quarter rose to $177.7 million from $163.7 million a year ago.

Analysts expected revenues of $169.2 million for the quarter.
