Reynolds American CEO Ivey Establishes Stock Purchase Plan

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C., July 30 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Susan M. Ivey, chairman and chief executive officer of Reynolds American Inc. , has established a stock-purchase plan under Rule 10b5-1 of the Securities and Exchange Act of 1934.

Under the plan, Ivey will acquire approximately 5,000 shares of RAI stock on Sept. 7, 2007, and an additional 7,500 shares on March 14, 2008. Ivey will use proceeds from the vesting of grants awarded to her under the company's Long-Term Incentive Plan to fund the stock purchases. These purchases will ensure Ivey's continued compliance with the company's stock ownership guidelines for its officers.

Rule 10b5-1 plans permit individuals who are not in possession of material nonpublic information to establish prearranged plans to buy or sell company stock. The rule allows individuals adopting such plans to buy or sell shares over a specified period of time or at a specific price in the future, regardless of any subsequent material nonpublic information they receive.
