Recording for the Blind & Dyslexic Organization Uses Qwest OneFlex Hosted VoIP Services

Qwest Communications International Inc. (NYSE: Q) today announced that it has signed a three-year agreement for Qwest OneFlex Hosted VoIP and Q Routing hosted contact-center solutions with the prestigious Recording for the Blind & Dyslexic® (RFB&D®) organization of Princeton, NJ. By integrating Qwest OneFlex Hosted VoIP and Q Routing, RFB&D was able to replace its obsolete, 20-year-old telephone system with a state-of-the-art 200-seat VoIP solution, allowing the organization to save costs, and enhance productivity among its employees. In fact, the solution has proven so successful at RFB&D’s headquarters that it plans to roll-out the solution to its remote offices over the next two years. "We’ll finally have a unified, intelligent voice platform that will allow us to route our hundreds of daily calls to the right people, and that’s no small feat,” said Peter Beran, senior vice president of IT, Recording for the Blind & Dyslexic. "Because we are a national nonprofit organization, costs are always important to us. Qwest’s solution is more efficient because it’s VoIP, yet the new platform actually reduces our overall telephony cost structure.” Recording for the Blind & Dyslexic, America's educational library of recorded textbooks for people who cannot effectively read standard print because of visual impairment, dyslexia or other physical disability, serves more than 146,000 students from kindergarten through graduate school and beyond with educational titles on CD, providing unprecedented navigation, ease of use, superior sound quality and proven effectiveness as learning tools for students with print disabilities. "We’re always thrilled to serve an organization, such as RFB&D, that is making a difference in the quality of people’s lives,” said Tom Richards, executive vice president, Qwest business markets group. "It’s also exciting for us when businesses and organizations displace old telephony systems with Qwest’s growth products that make their operations more efficient. In this case, we’re gratified we can help RFB&D save costs while simultaneously enhancing their ability to serve the students who rely on their support.” In a February 2007 report, "The Forrester Wave™: US Enterprise-Class VoIP Services, Q1 2007,” Forrester Research wrote in its Vendor Summary entitled "Qwest Communications Tops US Enterprise-Class VoIP Service Providers In Market Presence” that Qwest "ranks highest among the US enterprise-class VoIP service providers in overall VoIP market presence.” The report also states that "Qwest is particularly well-suited to meet the needs of hosted VoIP customers that have diverse domestic US location requirements.” Qwest OneFlex Hosted VoIP provides real-time, two-way voice capability in IP over a broadband connection, while delivering the same voice quality customers expect from a traditional phone. The features and applications can be individually customized by the user through a personalized Web portal, and the solution provides centralized management and control for the voice admin. OneFlex is hosted on Qwest’s carrier-grade network, not the Internet. "Qwest’s VoIP, contact-center and other growth products are rapidly penetrating the national business market and we’re seeing continued momentum in next-generation technology,” Richards continued.
