Rambus Opens Design Center in Bangalore, India; Strong Engineering Tal

    BANGALORE, India--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 17, 2005--Rambus Inc. (Nasdaq:RMBS), one of the world's premier technology licensing companies specializing in high-speed chip interfaces, today announced the opening of its new design center located in Bangalore to better serve its growing customer base in Asia and strengthen its global presence. Rambus plans to hire 50 employees at the Bangalore facility by year's end to work on repeatable cells and cores designed for multiple process technologies. Geoff Tate, Chairman of the Rambus Board, will preside over official inaugural proceedings today at 10:30am at the Rambus Bangalore office.

    The Rambus engineering teams in Bangalore will focus primarily on the development of additional PHYs and cores based on Rambus's industry-leading technologies, including work in the areas of industry-standard designs such as PCI Express(1), Fibre Channel, Serial ATA and DDR2 memory controller designs.
    In 2004, Rambus opened a design center in Chapel Hill, North Carolina when it acquired serial link assets from Velio Communications Inc. Rambus also has regional offices in Tokyo, Japan and Taipei, Taiwan. The new Rambus Bangalore office is located at 30, Prathiba Complex, 4th B Cross, 5th Block, Industrial Area, Koramangala, Bangalore.
